cause cross-cultural ministry isnāt just a callingāitās a lot
This space is for the humans behind the missions bio. The ones who are trying to follow God with their whole heartsāand trying to figure out how to be a functioning human in the process.
Whether youāre overseas, stateside, just landed, just leaving, or somewhere in between⦠you donāt have to figure it all out alone.
I offer online therapy for missionaries and cross-cultural workers navigating burnout, spiritual fatigue, trauma, relationships, and transitionsāwithout pressure, performance, or shame.
this work is especially helpful if youāre navigating:
Missionary life is beautiful and meaningfulābut also emotionally complex. Whether you're overseas, recently returned, or somewhere in transition, therapy can help you process the stress, grief, identity shifts, and spiritual challenges that often come with life in ministry. If youāre a missionary, expat, or cross-cultural worker navigating any of the following, you're not aloneāand you donāt have to untangle it all by yourself.
Youāre experiencing pre-field stress, fear, or doubt about your upcoming ministry assignment
Youāre battling loneliness, burnout, or a loss of identity while living overseas
Home assignment or furlough has left you emotionally disoriented and disconnected
Youāre struggling with re-entryāwrestling with reverse culture shock, resentment, or a sense of not belonging
Marital tension or miscommunication is rising under the stress of cross-cultural life
Parenting feels especially hard as you raise Third Culture Kids (TCKs) through constant transition
Youāve experienced team conflict, unhealthy power dynamics, or leadership wounds that make ālife togetherā feel more draining than sacred
Your faith feels shakyāyouāre deconstructing, spiritually dry, or feeling far from God in the middle of your calling
Childhood wounds are resurfacing in the pressure cooker of ministry
Youāre navigating anxiety, panic attacks, or unresolved trauma from your host culture or sending context
Youāre grieving the loss of a culture you deeply connected withāor struggling with guilt because you never really did

If you're located within the U.S. in either Texas or Florida, and Iām in-network with your plan, then yesāI can bill your insurance through Headway.
If you're serving internationally, unfortunately insurance cannot be billed for sessionsāeven if you're typically covered in the States.

Yes! EMDR can be incredibly effective onlineāeven across time zones. Weāll use tools like bilateral audio, tapping, or visual cues to create the same kind of healing experience youād have in person. You donāt need fancy equipmentājust a private space, a steady internet connection, and a willingness to show up. Iāll walk you through everything step-by-step. Hereās some EMDR info, if youāre interested.

Yes! I work with missionary adults, couples, teens, and familiesādepending on fit, availability, and time zone. If Iām not the best fit for your familyās needs, Iāll help you find someone who is.
-
Iāll do my best! I offer weekday morning and early afternoon availability (U.S. Eastern Time), which works well for many international clients. If youāre unsure, just reach out and we can figure out if our schedules sync up.

Only if you want to. Many missionary clients find it helpful to explore how faith intersects with the rest of lifeāidentity, relationships, mental health, culture shock, burnout, etc.ābut thatās never something Iāll force or pressure. This is your space, and Iāll meet you wherever you are spiritually.
-
Maybe! Many countries do allow virtual therapy with a U.S.-based provider, and Iām happy to look into your host country's telehealth laws to see if weāre good to go. If it's not allowed, Iāll let you know upfront.

This work is personal for me. My parents and sister moved overseas as missionaries a few years agoāafter I was already grown and marriedāso Iāve watched them navigate the layers of transition, culture shock, grief, and beauty that come with this life. Iāve also seen how isolating it can be to carry emotional or spiritual struggles while being āthe one people look to for support.ā
Over time, Iāve grown passionate about creating a space where missionaries (and their kids, spouses, teammates, etc.) can show up as humansānot just as helpers. You donāt have to be āfineā here. You donāt have to explain every acronym or spiritual nuance. You just get to come as you areāand be met with care, curiosity, and zero pressure to perform.
