Walk + Talk Therapy at Indian Rocks Beach, Florida
for when your nervous system needs a little salt air, too
it’s exactly what it sounds like: therapy, but on the beach
No couch, no screen—just walk and talk therapy on Indian Rocks Beach. We’ll move side-by-side, sorting through life’s heaviness while the waves handle the background noise.
This is my only in-person therapy option and takes place on weekday mornings, when the beach is quiet, parking is simple, and the energy is more “peaceful processing” than “tourist chaos.”
You’ll get everything you would in a traditional therapy session - processing, reflection, skill-building - but with the added benefits of nature-based therapy. And yes, we can incorporate EMDR therapy during beach walk sessions. But no, these sessions can’t be billed to insurance due to the lack of privacy in a public setting—but sliding scale spots may be available if cost is a barrier.
when beach walk therapy might be a better fit:
Virtual therapy has its benefits (and I offer that too), but sometimes you just need to move. You need space, fresh air, and a way to talk through hard things without a screen or a couch in the way.
Walk and Talk Therapy on Indian Rocks Beach might be right for you if:
You feel stuck in your head and want to reconnect with your body
You’re navigating anxiety, OCD, trauma, or relationship difficulties and find that regulating is easier when you’re moving
You’re processing grief, identity shifts, or perfectionism and could use space, literal and emotional, to loosen up and breathe
You’re in a big life transition—college, career, faith, friendships—and want grounding support in a calming, familiar setting
You tend to freeze up or overthink in traditional therapy settings
You’re tired of doing therapy in your car or closet (relatable)
You just feel more human with sand under your feet, the ocean in earshot, and your therapist beside you, rather than in a box on a screen
Walking and talking can make it easier to access the deeper stuff—especially for folks who feel overwhelmed by traditional therapy settings. The combination of movement, sensory grounding, and nature’s calm can help your brain process what’s happening emotionally in a way that feels organic, not forced.
what to expect
Beach Walk Therapy isn’t a watered-down version of therapy—it’s the real thing, just with waves instead of Wi-Fi.
Just like in virtual sessions, we start by building skills—and your confidence in those skills—so you feel more in control of your day-to-day. I use approaches like EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy), and ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) to help you build actual tools for emotion regulation, boundary-setting, and staying present when your brain wants to bolt.
When you’re ready for deeper, process-oriented work, I integrate ego states therapy and EMDR therapy (yes, even on the beach). We get creative and stay true to the model: things like adjusting the rhythm of our walk, using bilateral audio or tapping tools, or intentionally pacing breaks to stay grounded as we process.
Underneath it all, my approach is guided by two core beliefs:
🌊 Our relationship matters more than any intervention
🌊 A regulated nervous system is the foundation for real healing
So yes I’ll challenge you and push you outside of your comfort zone, but also we’ll go at your pace, tune into what your body needs, and let the therapeutic work grow from there. Sunscreen optional. Emotional honesty, strongly encouraged ;).
some FAQs to get us started
-
Because beach walk sessions happen outdoors and don’t meet insurance requirements for a “traditional therapy setting,” they’re not eligible for insurance reimbursement. All beach walk sessions are private pay and cost $110 per session.
-
Sessions happen on weekday mornings at Indian Rocks Beach—early enough to avoid crowds, chaos, and the Florida sun turning us into human toast. I’ll send you the exact meeting location (a low-key, easy-to-park spot) once we schedule.
-
Dress comfortably! Think: walking shoes or sandals, weather-friendly clothes, sunglasses, hat, maybe a hair tie for that salty breeze. Some clients wear athleisure, others show up in jeans and barefoot. Whatever feels most like you!
-
If it’s raining, storming, or the beach is just not cooperating, we’ll pivot to a virtual session instead. I’ll always check in with you the day before if weather might be an issue. (You won’t be ghosted in a lightning storm.)
-
We’ll meet, start walking, and ease into the session. We’ll take breaks as needed - sometimes we sit, pause to look at the water, or just stand still and breathe for a minute. It’s your time—we go at your pace.
-
We walk in less-crowded areas and avoid high-traffic paths, but the beach is public, so there's always a chance we’ll pass other humans. We’ll navigate that together—quiet moments, pauses, or quick topic changes are always on the table.
-
Nothing fancy—just whatever helps you feel comfortable. I recommend water, sunglasses, sunscreen, and weather-appropriate clothes. You’re also welcome to bring a coffee, journal, or anything else that helps you feel grounded. No need to overthink it—just show up as you are.

As much as I truly love dogs, Indian Rocks Beach doesn’t allow them, so unfortunately they’ll have to sit this one out. But feel free to tell me all about your pup—I will absolutely ask to see pictures.
